Due to 2007 installation headaches the Microsoft Office Team just went from an A+ team to F- team.  What Kinda @#$%@@ CRAP is THIS!!!!!

In order to redeem themselves we will need to see a picture of the installer engineer hanging from the flag pole in Redmond!!!!

In addition to all the stuff mentioned in the above blog, if you are getting "Language of this installation package is not supported by your system" you are most likely really getting:

"Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s): The 2007 Microsoft Office system does not support upgrading from a prerelease version of the 2007 Microsoft Office system. You must first uninstall any prerelease versions of the 2007 Microsoft Office system products and associates technologies."

Running the setup.exe from a mounted ISO image produced the second error, but running the setup.exe from the extracted files produced the first error.

In some installations, it is possible that when attempting to install Office 12 products, you may receive an error that says The language of this installation package is not supported by your system. There are two possible fixes for this issue - first, via the registry you must add a few keys and a string value. Create a new text file and enter: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 "1033"="" Save this file as FixLang.reg, then double click on it and click OK to accept adding it to the registry. Another very common issue is if you are using an ISO image and have extracted the files; if using ISO Buster (the most common), you must be sure to select the normal extract indicated by the “>>>” button, do not extract the files as an ISO.

Hi - I am trying to uninstall Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (Beta) and as uninstall runs it comes back with a message 'The language of this installation package is not supported by your system'

I have updated the registry with the fix identified above but the error persists.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Hello Julian,

I am sorry but this post didn't involve any SharePoint issues. You may have something else installed. Expressions betas also cause it. This forum discusses problems with SharePoint that are related to this error. http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=469874&Si teID=17

I would use the MyUnInst tool mentioned here: http://www.hans elman.com/blog/Office2007WontUpgradeFromAPrereleaseVersionOfThe2007OfficeSy stemOffice2007SetupSpelunking.aspx

And get rid of anything that is linked to office betas.

I had the same problem with expression, went through hell to get expression b1 uninstalled - here's the process: reinstall using the setup.exe program from this location: C:\MSOCache\All Users\{30120000-0026-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}-C

select 'x' Not available for all the components (It did reinstall all the office12 language MUI's anyway) Next i launched expression, then closed it. then i opened myUninst and was able to run uninstaller for Expression. It appears to have removed expression and all traces of office12 from my machine *execpt* C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE12\VS Runtime\MSVCR71.DLL

Sheesh.
